Product Description

How does Santa really know who is naughty or nice? The answer is finally revealed in...The Elf on the Shelf A Christmas Tradition.TM The Elf on the Shelf A Christmas TraditionTM is an activity the entire family will enjoy. Based on the tradition Carol Aebersold began with her family in the 1970s, this cleverly rhymed childrens book explains that Santa knows who is naughty and/or nice because he sends a scout elf to every home. During the holiday season, the elf watches children by day and reports to Santa each night. When children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole and can be found hiding in a different location. This activity allows The Elf on the Shelf to become a delightful hide-and-seek game. In addition, each shipment is marked for special delivery from Santas workshop. ALL PRODUCTS ARE BRAND NEW!

Incredible and creative

This book is so creative for children. I have 3 children ages 5 and under. They love this book. My 5 year old was actually questioning Santa's existence until she woke up and found the elf in a different spot each morning and now she's believing 100%! They get to name their elf and that adds an extra element that they can own! Very creative and just a cute story for the everyday household of children. Even the older ones would enjoy making this story real to younger siblings! A must have a Christmas time!
A must have!

My mom gave this book to our family for our first Christmas with our son....I am a huge fan of the holidays and this book captured all of the excitement and imagination that makes Christmas so much fun. Although my 9 month old doesn't appreciate the book yet, my nieces and nephews (ages 5-12) loved it. This book is great for kids of all ages, my husband and myself included! We have named our elf and can't wait until next Christmas when he will magically appear and report in to Santa!
what a joyful gift

My grandchildren LOVED this concept. Even the "suspicious" about Santa 8 year old enjoyed the hiding and the reading! Great gift from Grandmas!
This is the great tradition.

I highly recommend this product. We just got the book and elf...my kids were hooked immediately. We read the book four times last night and they called me this morning to tell me where they found him. I wish I would have found out about this two years ago!!!!
Do you hear what I hear?

I heard a lot of my friends talking about this book and was interested. It seemed a bit high in price to me, but we used a coupon and a gift card which made it seem more reasonable. My children loved the story and got so into it. We purchased it yesterday and this morning they were so excited to come downstairs to find Elfie (our current name, we haven't decided for sure so I am waiting to record it in the book). It helped a bit with some behavior and fighting issues. Although the illustrations in the book were not quite as good as I had hoped for, the fact that my children love it and are having a good time with it makes up for that. i would recommend this book to people with small children.

i consider this a must have for those with young children < 8. Also, it is cheaper at the bookstore. Thanks for not saving us money internet.
We get it, it's a new tradition

We really love the little story and elf, it is so adorable and my 4yo daughter loves it. My only complaint is the way they beat into your head that it's going to be your new family tradition. A tradition is started when you do something fun and decide to do it again the next year, not when someone hands you a box with the words "your new family tradition" written all over it lol. At the end of the book they make you write down the day you start your new tradition. But even though that part is annoying, as a whole it is cute and we will use him again next year, we did name him Robert after all hehe :)
A Tradition Older Than You Think

In the 1950's my parents had a tiny elf they would bring out and place high up on a shelf on December 1st. The elf would be in a different location each morning. What fun to try and find him. If I dared climb up and try to grab him, why, he'd turn to plastic! Horrors. Then on Christmas morning he would disappear. Santa took him back with him after depositing the presents under the tree. So this story or tradition has been around a lot longer than the 70's. And the funny thing... I was about to write a similiar story about my growing up with an elf on the shelf!
